Data Readiness Assessment
Most enterprise AI failures trace back to data problems. Before committing to an AI project:
- Data audit complete — What data exists? Where is it? How clean is it?
- Data ownership clarified — Who can grant access? What's the process?
- Data volume sufficient — Do you have enough historical data to train a useful model?
- Privacy/compliance review — GDPR, PDPA, or industry-specific requirements addressed
- Data labeling plan in place — Someone owns the quality of training data
The #1 AI Implementation Mistake
Starting AI training before data quality is confirmed. You cannot fix a bad model by feeding it more bad data. Audit your data first — it's less glamorous than a demo, but it's the only path to production.
Integration Reality Check
AI that exists in isolation is a science project. AI that connects to your business systems is a product. Before implementation:
- API access to core systems (ERP, CRM, helpdesk) is confirmed
- IT team has been consulted on security and access policies
- Data flow architecture is documented and approved
- Error handling and fallback procedures defined
Deployment: The 80/20 That Matters
Ship to production early, even if imperfect. Here's what to prioritize:
- Ship the minimum viable AI — handle 20% of the query types that represent 80% of volume first
- Build the human handoff — every AI interaction needs a seamless escalation path
- Instrument everything — log inputs, outputs, escalations, and feedback from day one
- Establish feedback loops — users need a way to correct AI errors, and that correction must improve the model
- Plan retraining cadence — AI models drift. Schedule monthly retraining on new data
Measuring Success
Your AI project should be able to answer these questions on a dashboard within 30 days of going live:
- What % of target queries is the AI handling autonomously?
- What is the AI's accuracy rate (validated by human review)?
- How has support volume changed compared to pre-AI baseline?
- What is the CSAT for AI-assisted interactions vs. human-only?
- What is the cost per query before and after AI deployment?
If these metrics aren't moving in the right direction within 60 days of going live, you have a problem — and it's usually a data or integration problem, not a model problem.
